About Me

Healthcare is a noble and rewarding profession that offers a myriad of possibilities. After a ten year long entrepreneurial journey in industries like Food & Beverages, Advertising I knew my calling was in giving back to the society and improve the lives of people in some way. Since I had a strong passion for Sciences while growing up and I ended up with a Masters degree in Finance, it gave me an opportunity to explore and contribute to healthcare businesses in managing the same.

Of course, not all healthcare organizations offer the same level of care, quality, and commitment.  I was fortunate enough to join the talented team of professionals at Sagar Healthcare—an organization which understands and responds to shifts in global healthcare—where I currently serve as the President for their India division.

Sagar Healthcare consistently receives high ratings within the industry, and their vision for providing exemplary healthcare services at a global level has been inspirational and life-changing.  In my multiple roles, I have been blessed with the opportunity to meet healthcare innovators around the world and learn about many of the new trends, opportunities, and challenges in the healthcare industry.  Some of my special interests include India’s quest to implement universal health insurance coverage, the potential offered by medi-tourism to change current healthcare practices and attitudes, and improving relationships between healthcare organizations and consumers.

As my understanding of the intricacies of the healthcare industry has expanded, I have become increasingly aware that there is an information gap between professionals in the field and the general public.  It is my greatest hope that this blog will start important conversations about healthcare, community, and the global village.

In Indian healthcare industry, somehow, insurance has been the personal territory of the government for several decades. “Although insurance is most commonly associated with life insurance, health insurance has grown in popularity with the advent of economic liberalization in the early 1990s.  As life expectancy and disposable income rose, health insurance became a viable option throughout the nation.  The health insurance industry opened up to private industry along with government players with the creation of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) legislation,” says Ishiqa Multani, Executive Vice President, Sagar Healthcare and Diagnostics Private Limited. Read More>>
